PRESS RELEASE
POSITIVE RESPONSE TO TEN ACRE FARM PROPOSALS
Proposals to develop land adjacent to Smarts Heath Common, known as Ten Acre Farm, for recreational use by the local community received a positive response following a public exhibition.
Over 80 people attended the public event at Emmanuel Church in Mayford where visitors could find out more about the proposals for Ten Acre Farm from representatives of Woking Borough Council, Woking Gymnastics Club and local architects, WADP Ltd.
Members of the public who were unable to attend had the opportunity to view and comment on the proposals online at www.tenacre.org.uk.
During the two week informal consultation, 95 responses were submitted, of which 91.5% were in favour of the proposals. Respondents raised a number of concerns around the protection of Smarts Heath Common and possible increased in traffic.
The proposals, subject to Planning Consent, could see the relocation of Woking Gymnastics Club from Kingfield to a new purpose-built facility, improved amenities for visitors to Smarts Heath Common, and enhanced flood alleviation measures for the local area.
All feedback will be reviewed and considered before a planning application is submitted later this summer, when a formal consultation will be held as part of the planning process.
Woking Borough Council and Woking Gymnastics Club would like to thank visitors and residents for their feedback.
More information about the project is available by visiting www.tenacre.org.uk or by emailing info@tenacre.org.uk.
